Kindergarten

The Shrine of St. Anne's kindergarten program is designed to instill a love for learning in all students while building a strong foundation for continued school success. Our kindergarten program is full day and our goal is to provide students with a year of challenging and fun-filled learning experiences that will enhance the total development of the child spiritually, socially, intellectually, and physically. A typical day engages students in religion, language arts (reading, writing, listening), math, science, and social studies. Students visit specialists in music, physical education, art, Spanish, and technology. Throughout the year, our kindergarten students have opportunities to attend all-school liturgies and prayer services, to be involved in school-wide service projects, and experience out-of-school field trips. According to Archdiocesan Policy, incoming kindergarteners must be 5 years old by October 1st.

Elementary School Kindergarten - 5th Grade

Beginning in kindergarten, our students follow a core academic program that includes religion, language arts, mathematics,  social studies, and science.  Also beginning in kindergarten, students attend "specials" which include music, art, Spanish, technology, and physical education. Students in grade K-3 have a homeroom teacher which teaches them their core education classes in their homeroom.  Students rotate to their "specials" classrooms where they are taught by each of their "specials" teachers. Beginning in grade 4, students will switch one core class (typically science/social studies) with grade 5 to begin to learn the process of a rotating class schedule. Their remaining core classes are taught by their homeroom teacher and they will rotate to their "specials" classroom to be taught by their "specials teachers". Kindergarten-2nd grade students have a morning recess and a lunchtime recess. Students in grade 3-5 have a lunchtime recess. Students in grades K-5 are exposed to technology aided learning through use of technology class, supervised use of Chromebooks in classes, Google Classroom assignments (beginning in 3rd grade) and the use of reading and math based programs such as Lexia, Power-Up, and Prodigy.

Middle School

6th - 8th Grade

Students in grades 6-8 follow a rotating class schedule. Middle School students begin their day in their homeroom class for attendance and morning prayer.  They then rotate through their daily core classes: theology, mathematics, history, language arts, history, and science.  Grades 6-8 rotate through their "specials" classes: art, Spanish, technology. and physical education. Middle School students have a lunchtime recess.

Archdiocese of Denver - Office of Catholic Schools

Our school's academic curriculum is set by the Archdiocese of Denver - Office of Catholic Schools. Evaluation committees consisting of teachers, principals and/or other curriculum experts in the Archdiocese of Denver assist the Associate Superintendent in building and implementing each subject area of the curriculum.

Standardized Testing

The Shrine of St. Anne School assesses student learning in math and reading three times a year using the STAR Assessment tool.  Our students demonstrate consistent, strong growth in this assessment and our teachers use the data to drive their planning and classroom instruction.  STAR Assessments are used throughout the Archdiocese of Denver - Office of Catholic Schools.

Accreditation

The Archdiocese of Denver has created a robust evaluation process which includes conducting its own visitation of each school every five years. The Catholic Mission Fidelity Assessment process is one of the means by which the local Bishop carries out his ecclesiastical authority to discern the Catholic identity of a school, which is his right and duty as the father and pastor of the particular Church in its entirety. The assessment will allow the Archbishop of Denver and his team to understand how schools live out their Catholic mission and to be able to identify areas for improvement. A set of Mission Standards has been established to measure and assess the fidelity of a school to the Church’s charter for education and formation of the human person.
