Among Mosher’s salient points will be the conscious and intense attacks on virtue in the 21st Century that even glorify sin; guidance on the use of technology and Internet; the importance of a strong Catholic education; the significance of daily family time, inclusive of prayer, even when business creates physical separation. Most essential, Mosher will underscore the necessity of parents and grandparents expressing their faithfulness in ongoing visible ways, as “faith is not so much taught as caught.”
Few are better aware, prepared, and successful in thwarting that which is eroding faithfulness to the Catholic Faith especially among young people. For decades, Steven Mosher has endeavored to bring the Gospel of Life to people around the globe in his close association with the late Father Paul Marx, founder of Human Life International and in his leadership of Population Research Institute, a renowned organization for its sound research into the factual reality of population trends and its advocacy for the protection of human life from conception to natural death. He is considered an expert in his field that extends to political and sociological trends, especially in Asia.
Event coordinators are enthused about Steven Mosher’s inspirational presence and wisdom shared close to home and abroad.
Many parents and grandparents question how they can ensure that their children remain steadfast Catholics in an age that undermines their efforts, according to one of the event coordinators, Elizabeth Walker, herself the mother of six and a Catholic psychologist.
“Steven Mosher and his wife Vera have shown that even given active lifestyles, sticking to some basic tenets and practices can safeguard children into adulthood. I really look forward to what he has to say about current and predicted challenges and how we can cope and overcome them.”
Patricia Hershwitzky, principal of the Shrine of St. Anne School, added that her acquaintance with Steven Mosher began in the ‘80s when he famously challenged Stanford University’s blindness to the initiation of China’s forced one child policy.
“Some people talk; others act. Steven did both, and then he wrote, despite the consequence to a promising career in the secular world as a social scientist. He was a profile in courage, but his voice would be challenged even to this day despite the obvious truths he expounds.”
Hershwitzky noted that as Mosher’s faith and family grew, she also greatly admired his and his wife’s ability to maintain a strong but loving Catholic family home. Today, his eight children still live their Catholic faith, she emphasized.
“They live apologetics–defense of faith–in a time that many Catholics are bullied into expressing apologies for being Catholic. However, they are also very gentle and loving persons who exemplify Pope Francis’s call for mercy.” she stressed.
“Families like the Mosher’s can serve as a beacon for those who are uncertain and even doubt that they can overcome the tsunami of secularism…even paganism…that seems to be swallowing all public discourse and life, and, most fearfully, their children and grandchildren.”
