With our Spanish language curriculum in full swing, it is only fitting that students also learn the music of Spanish-speaking countries. This February, our 5th graders will sing “Cantamos Americanos”, a collection of folk songs from the Americas. The music will be sung in English and Spanish and borrows folk songs from Jamaica, Mexico, Chile, and Cuba. Come join us in the gym on February 19 at 2:15 and 7:00PM for this delightful and exciting foray into Hispanic music!
Students in first, second, and third grade Spanish classes are in the process of learning two new songs, one about the days of the week, and the other about a cockroach (“La Cucaracha”). They are practicing the “Sign of the Cross” and the “Hail Mary”, and will have them mastered soon.
Students in grades 4-8 are learning the Spanish alphabet and a song that goes with it. Grades 7 and 8 are learning how to conjugate simple regular verbs. Adios! |
